وَيْلٌۭ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ

Waylun lil-mutaffifeen

Woe to those who give less than due

ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ

Alladheena idhaak-taaloo 'alan-naasi yastawfoon

Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ

Wa idhaa kaalooohum aw wazanoohum yukhsiroon

But if they give by measure or by weight to others, they cause loss

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ

Alaa yadhunnu ulaa'ika annahum mab'oothoon

Do they not think they will be resurrected?

لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍۢ

Liyawmin 'adheem

For a tremendous Day?

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Yawma yaqoomun-naasu lirabbil-'aalameen

The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍۢ

Kallaa inna kitaabal-fujjaari lafee sijjeen

No! Indeed the record of the wicked is in Sijjeen

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌۭ

Wa maa adraaka maa sijjeen

And what can make you know what Sijjeen is?

كِتَـٰبٌۭ مَّرْقُومٌۭ

Kitaabun marqoom

It is a register inscribed

وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Waylun yawma'idhin lil-mukadhdbibeen

Woe that Day to the deniers

ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ

Alladheena yukadhdhihoona biyawmid-deen

Who deny the Day of Judgment

وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ

Wa maa yukadhdhihu bihee illaa kullu mu'tadin atheem

And none deny it except every sinful transgressor

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

Idhaa tutlaa 'alayhi aayaatunaa qaala asaateerul-awwaleen

When Our verses are recited to him, he says: Legends of the former peoples

كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ

Kallaa bal raana 'alaa quloobihim maa kaanoo yaksiboon

No! Rather their hearts have been covered by what they used to earn

كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ

Kallaa innahum 'ar-rabbihim yawma'idhin lamahjooboon

No! Indeed they will be veiled from their Lord that Day

ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ

Thumma innahum lasaaloo'l-jaheem

Then indeed they will enter Hellfire

ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ

Thumma yuqaalu haadhal-ladhee kuntum bihee tukadhdhiboon

Then it will be said: This is what you used to deny

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ

Kallaa inna kitaabal-abraari lafee 'illiyyeen

No! Indeed the record of the righteous is in Illiyyeen

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ

Wa maa adraaka maa 'illiyyoon

And what can make you know what Illiyyeen is?

كِتَـٰبٌۭ مَّرْقُومٌۭ

Kitaabun marqoom

It is a register inscribed

يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ

Yash-haduhul-muqarraboon

Witnessed by those brought near to Allah

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ

Innal-abraara lafee na'eem

Indeed the righteous will be in pleasure

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ

'Alal-araa'iki yandhuroon

On adorned couches, observing

تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ

Ta'rifu fee wujoohihim nadratanna'eem

You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure

يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍۢ مَّخْتُومٍ

Yusqawna min raheeqin makhtoom

They will be given drink of pure sealed wine

خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌۭ ۚ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ

Khitaamuhu miskun wa fee dhaalika falyatanaafasil-mutanaafisoon

Its seal will be of musk — so for this let competitors compete

وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ

Wa mizaajuhu min tasneem

And its mixture is from Tasneem

عَيْنًۭا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ

'Aynan yashrabu bihal-muqarraboon

A spring from which drink those brought near to Allah

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ

Innal-ladheena ajramoo kaanoo minal-ladheena aamanoo yadhakoon

Indeed those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed

وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ

Wa idhaa marroo bihim yataghamazoon

And when they passed by them, they would wink at each other

وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ

Wa idhanqalaboo ilaa ahlihimunqalaboo faakiheen

And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting

وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ

Wa idhaa ra'awhum qaaloo inna haa'ulaaa'i ladaalloon

And when they saw them, they would say: Indeed these are truly lost

وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ

Wa maa ursiloo 'alayhim haafideen

But they had not been sent as guardians over them

فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ

Fal-yawmal-ladheena aamanoo minal-kuffaari yadhakoon

So today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ

'Alal-araa'iki yandhuroon

On adorned couches, observing

هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ

Hal thuwwibal-kuffaaru maa kaanoo yaf'aloon

Have the disbelievers been rewarded for what they used to do?
